Recap: Cleveland vs. Utah

Sports Network | November 15, 2009

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - LeBron James scored eight of his 21 points in the final minute, as Cleveland pulled out a gritty 107-103 win over Utah.

James added nine assists and six rebounds while getting plenty of help from Mo Williams, who had 21 points, and J.J. Hickson, who set a career-high for the second consecutive game with 20. Anthony Parker ended with 14 points, including a late three-pointer in the club's fourth straight win.

Carlos Boozer recorded 25 points and 12 boards against his former team, while rookie Eric Maynor filled in admirably for Deron Williams with a 24-point effort for Utah, which has alternated wins and losses for seven games.

Hickson's jumper had Cleveland up, 94-86, with roughly 5 1/2 minutes to play. Utah responded with an 11-2 run, though, as two Boozer free throws with 1:56 remaining gave the Jazz their first lead of the game.

Parker's three-ball was followed by Mehmet Okur's tip-in with a minute left to tie the game, 99-99.

Then, James took over. The reigning league MVP hit 1-of-2 from the foul line and answered Maynor's driving bucket with a three-point play with 28.8 seconds left for a 103-101 lead.

"You've got to over and take the charge," said Jazz coach Jerry Sloan. "We reached in and fouled him. You try to get your body over in front of the guy. It's easier said than done. He does the same thing to other teams."

After Kirilenko missed a deep three-pointer, Maynor hit a runner between James' 3-for-4 effort at the stripe.

Down 106-103, the Jazz called timeout with 9.9 seconds left and drew up a play for Okur, whose missed three sealed the outcome.

"They played well and really executed," admitted James. "Eric Maynor made some tough shots in the lane. We contested a lot of shots but it was just really good execution by them."

The Cavs shot 15-of-21 from the field in the first quarter to take a 34-22 edge. Utah used an 11-0 run in the second to help pull to within 59-54 at the halftime.

The third quarter went back-and-forth with Cleveland still holding a 78-72 lead at the end of the frame.

Williams missed his second straight game due to personal reasons...The Cavs, who were without Shaquille O'Neal (strained shoulder), have won six straight over Utah in Cleveland...Okur and Wesley Matthews each scored 13 points for the Jazz, who made just three of their 12 three-point attempts.
