Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - The Sacramento Kings fired interim head coach Kenny Natt on Thursday, just a little over five months after he was tabbed as a replacement for Reggie Theus.
Natt took over when Theus was shown the door on December 15 with the Kings struggling with a 6-18 record. He guided the club to an 11-47 mark for the remainder of the year, which, at 17-65, proved to be the worst season in the 61-year history of the franchise.
The previous lows came in 1958-59 and 1959-60, when the Cincinnati Royals finished 19-53 and 19-56, respectively.
Natt, who has spent the last 28 years in pro basketball, spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers, helping them reach the 2007 NBA Finals. He previously worked nine seasons under Jerry Sloan with the Utah Jazz, during which time the Jazz made two NBA Finals appearances.
In addition, Natt's entire coaching staff, consisting of Rex Kalamian, Jason Hamm, Randy Brown and Bubba Burrage were relieved of their responsibilities.
