Lacedaruis Dunn Assault Charge Was A Misunderstanding, Says Girlfriend's Father

The charges against Lacedarius Dunn still stand, but if his girlfriend's father is telling the truth, then he might be cleared sooner than we thought. Fox Sports spoke to Charles Edwards, father of Lacedarius' girlfriend, LaCharlesia, and he had this to say:

"She said it was an accident. She said she sneaked up on him in the dark and he hit her by mistake. It wasn’t a fight at all. She doesn’t want to press charges or anything like that."

"I’ve known him for a while and was hearing nasty things, so I drove down from Louisiana to Dallas to find out. I knew it was out of character, so I wanted to see for myself.”

"My daughter is much better. She’s fine. She and I really both thought this had already been dropped.”

So now the question becomes: how in the world were charges pressed if this was all a simple mistake? Not doubting the father here, but more the authorities in Dallas that charged Lacedarius Dunn, told reporters he broke his girlfriend's jaw, and, maybe, ignored evidence that pointed to his obvious innocence.

In any case, here's to hoping the father's version of events is accurate, and Lacedarius and LaCharlesia go on to live happily ever after. With names like those, it's clearly meant to be.
