Midnight Madness: Maryland, Georgetown Bringing Blasts From The Past

Stay connected with SB Nation

With Midnight Madness sweeping college campuses and arenas Friday night, two DC-area schools are trying to one-up one another in terms of big names and memorable moments that will be highlighted during the festivities.

The Maryland Terrapins would like to remind fans that they won the National Title not so long ago (2002). And so, they're going to trot out almost everyone from that squad:

The big draw is that 80 percent of the national championship team from 2002 will be in the building to celebrate. Lonny Baxter will be the only person missing from that starting lineup. Whether or not they'll suit up in the alumni game is anyone's guess. Considering that it wasn't that long ago and some of these guys are still in the NBA, I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw up some jump shots.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown Hoyas have a lot of big names in their history. Most of them might just be in the building tonight.

While you never know with such things, the assumption is that Greg Monroe, Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert will all be attending, along with older stars like Sleepy Floyd, Reggie Williams and Patrick Ewing, whose son’s NBA jersey is being hung on the back wall of McDonough.
