Midnight Madness marks the opening of the college basketball season across the country. Instead of hard-nosed first practices, it's a time for celebration for most programs, with elaborate exhibitions and contests serving as hype builders. But sometimes, it's the simple things -- not high-dollar giveaways or big-name concerts -- that steal the show.
Take George Mason, for instance. How does a giant, choreographed dance-off featuring band director Doc Nix, dressed in his typical ensemble, along with cheerleaders, basketball players and all sorts of other fun outfits sound? That's what I thought.
Shut it down. George Mason Wins.
And yes, Paul Hewitt spoofed Doc Nix's attire. Slow clap for George Mason.
