John Calipari In A Nutshell

You know John Calipari. Maybe you hate John Calipari, maybe you love him. Either way, you love him or hate him because of quotes like this, from the Associated Press recap of Kentucky's 85-47 win over Penn State this past weekend.

"Anthony Davis' line, six rebounds, three points and three blocks, and it ain't close, he's the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft," Calipari said.

A few important reactions.

  1. Oh man. It takes a phenomenally shameless recruiter to openly promote a freshman basketball player for the NBA Draft before that player's even declared.
  2. Especially after the third game of the year.
  3. And especially if said player scored only two points and had six rebounds in said game, a 40-point blowout. But at that point, it's all so ridiculous you can't even get mad. The audacity's too entertaining.

And that—"so ridiculous you can't even get mad"—is John Calipari in a nutshell.

Oh it's easy to get mad...

…when you live amongst the Big Blue Nation that takes his words as Gospel, rather than hyperbole. If everyone was laughing, sure. But Kentucky fans are drooling (even more than usual).
