Three games will feature a pair of Top 25 teams this week, with Georgetown-Louisville being the highlight.
No. 4 Louisville will host No. 12 Georgetown in both teams' Big East opener on Wednesday, arguably the top matchup of the week in college basketball. The Cardinals (12-0) come into the game undefeated, but largely untested. The only Top 25 team they've played this year is Vanderbilt, who was ranked No. 19 at the time but is now unranked. It is worth noting that Louisville has beaten Butler and Memphis, two teams who had much higher expectations than their now middling records suggest.
On paper, at least, Georgetown's 10-1 record has appeared far more tested. They have played three teams that were ranked when the two teams met, but just one of those teams remains in the Top 25 and that's Kansas, who beat the Hoyas. Georgetown beat Memphis, who was ranked No. 8 at the time, and Alabama, then ranked No. 12. The Hoyas have actually beaten Memphis twice this year, the last of which gave them eight straight wins.
The only other games featuring two Top 25 teams this week are No. 14 Mississippi State hosting No. 7 Baylor and No. 17 Michigan State hosting No. 15 Indiana, both on Wednesday. It will be the Big Ten opener for the Spartans and Hoosiers.
