UNC Vs. Kentucky Halftime Score: Top-Ranked Wildcats Down Five

Stay connected with SB Nation

The North Carolina Tar Heels are doing everything they can to prove that last week's loss to UNLV was a fluke, leading the Kentucky Wildcats 43-38 on the road just three days after beating No. 7 Wisconsin at home. The same tenacious defense that the Tar Heels exhibited against the Badgers has been out in full force against the Wildcats. Kentucky is shooting just 36.8 percent from the field, and just 2-for-9 on 3-pointers.

The Tar Heels, meanwhile, shot 46.9 percent in the half, getting strong minutes off the bench from P.J. Hairston (eight points), Reggie Bullock (five points, two rebounds) and James Michael McAdoo (two points, four rebounds). Tyler Zeller is on pace for a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down five rebounds.

Terrence Jones has led the way for Kentucky with 14 points on 5-for-11 shooting. He hasn't had much help from his supporting cast, however. The backcourt has struggled especially, with Marquis Teague and Doron Lamb combining for just seven points.
