ACC Tournament 2011 Bracket Update: Miami Surges, Virginia Collapses In Final Minutes

Miami beat Virginia 69-62 in the 2011 ACC Tournament opener. Would you believe this game went to overtime? Sure, that's not that hard to wrap your mind around. Now would you also accept the fact that Virginia had this game completely in hand with moments to go?

The Cavs led by as many as 50-39 in the closing minutes, but the Canes suddenly started hitting clutch threes as the Cavs kept coughing up the ball, doinking free throws, and committing inopportune fouls. I'd love to list each comical mistake made by UVA down the stretch, but THERE'S NO TIME. Virginia had a chance to win with a second left, but the intercepted inbound pass surprised nobody.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I didn't stop laughing at this game from the one-minute mark of the second half onward.

Miami will get the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels Friday at noon. They nearly pulled off a home upset in their only meeting this year, falling 74-71.
