Alabama State is going dancing after a 65-48 win over Grambling State in the SWAC Tournament championship on Saturday night. Alabama will make a fourth appearance in the tournament, the latest of which came in 2009.
Tramayne Moorer finished with a team-high 14 points off the bench in the win. Tramaine Butler added 13 points as Alabama State spread the scoring load around. Shareif Adamu scored nine points and Kenderek Washington had eight.
Grambling State had three players in double-figures, led by Donald Qualls’ 12 points. Lance Feurtado finished with 11 points and Justin Patton scored 10 points. The Grambling State bench was almost non-existent in the loss, with Peter Roberson’s seven points the only bench scoring on the night.
Alabama State is safely in the 2011 NCAA Tournament field by way of the SWAC automatic bid. The Hornets will head home to await their seeding during the Selection Sunday show.
