Buzz Williams To Remain Marquette Coach, According To Report

Buzz Williams was expected to be one of the hot names on the NCAA coaching carousel after he led his Marquette team to the Sweet 16 of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, but it looks like he isn't going anywhere. Williams is expected to sign a contract extension with Marquette in the coming week, according to a report by FOX Sports' Jeff Goodman.

Williams would restructure his current deal, a six-year rollover contract that paid him $1.6 million this year, and make over $2 million per season going forward, according to the report. It is unclear how many additional years would be added to the contract.

Williams has led Marquette to the NCAA Tournament for each of the last three years, compiling a 69-37 record since taking over for Tom Crean. He was rumored to be in the running for the Oklahoma job after the Sooners fired coach Jeff Capel back on March 14. Instead, Williams looks like he will be making his own legacy for Marquette, at least for the time being.
