Rotnei Clarke toured the University of Oklahoma on Monday, much to the delight of men's basketball coach Lon Kruger, who is reportedly very interested in the guard who led Arkansas in scoring last season. Clarke was granted his release from Arkansas after coach John Pelphrey was fired, following an 18-13 season in which the Razorbacks failed to make the NCAA tournament. Clarke was one of three players granted their release from Arkansas.
Clarke, who averaged 41 points and set Oklahoma's all-time high school scoring record, is now touring schools. The 6-foot guard scored 15.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists, while shooting 43.8 percent from behind the three-point arc last season.
In addition to Oklahoma, Clarke also visited Butler and said he will be visiting Gonzaga and Virginia. Recently, reports surfaced that Clarke had originally sought his release after his sophomore season and that he was trying to transfer to Gonzaga. Clarke will have to sit out this season, but will have one year of eligibility remaining.
