South Carolina's Malik Cooke Dislocates Ankle, Out 2-3 Months

South Carolina senior forward Malik Cooke has dislocated his right ankle. The injury, which occurred during a pickup game last month, could require up to three months to heal.

That would still give him a month before the Gamecocks open fall practice in October. He will not have surgery on the ankle.

Cooke is the only senior on the South Carolina roster. He played in 30 games last season and started 17, averaging 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.5 blocks and a team-best 1.5 steals in 25.8 minutes per game.He is one of only two upperclassmen on the Gamecock's roster heading into the season.

Cooke began his career at Nevada before transferring to South Carolina last year. He sat out the 2009-2010 season due to a transfer redshirt. He was a starter as a sophomore for Nevada, playing in every game.
