After having trailed for the better part of the second half, No. 2 Kentucky went on a 23-6 closing run to secure a 68-53 SEC road win over Auburn Wednesday night at Auburn Arena.
Anthony Davis and Doron Lamb both scored 14 points for the Wildcats (16-1, 2-0 SEC), who notched a season best-tying eighth consecutive victory and extended their winning streak versus the Tigers to 13.
"We went on a run at the end of the game, but you all know it was a double-bucket game and they could have beat us," UK head coach John Calipari said.
Marquis Teague and Terrence Jones posted 12 points apiece for a Kentucky team that shot just 40 percent from the floor, but still managed to snap Auburn's 10-game home winning streak. Rob Chubb led the way for the Tigers with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Though Auburn is just 10-6 and figures to be a bottom third team in the SEC, the early road victory is still a good sign for this young Kentucky team. Even though they ultimately crashed the Final Four, Kentucky lost six conference games away from home a season ago.
