In a seesawing battle of Big 12 heavyweights, No. 7 Kansas finished the first half on a 13-0 run to take a 39-29 lead over No. 3 Baylor into halftime.
The Jayhawks have run their offense through the usual suspects: Thomas Robinson has handled his business down low, scoring 12 points, most of them early, while Tyshawn Taylor has three threes and 14 points to lead all scorers, along with his customary four turnovers. Kansas has a 21-13 advantage on the boards.
Baylor's been able to stay in this game thanks to Perry Jones, who has 10 points for the Bears. But Jones appeared to sprain his ankle late in the first half, rolling it while jostling for position with Robinson, and Baylor's late drought coincided with the injury.
Kansas bolted to a 13-6 lead from the opening tip, then allowed a 18-5 run that gave Baylor a five-point lead, its biggest of the game.
