The Kansas State Wildcats improved to 13-4 with a victory over the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday night.
The Texas Longhorns visited Manhattan, KS, on Wednesday evening, but they were unable to knock down the Kansas St. Wildcats in its home confines. The Wildcats picked up an 84-80 victory. Wildcats guard Rodney McGruder scored 33 points on 11-of-17 shooting (4-of-6 on three-pointers) while also pulling down eight boards.
Kansas State had three other starters score at least 11 points. The bench combined to score11 points in this contest. While the Wildcats only shot 53.8 percent from the free throw line, the 21 that were made equaled the total number of attempts Texas had in the game.
Texas did win the percentage battle on free throws by making 19-of-21, but the team struggled from beyond the arc. The Longhorns could only drop seven three-pointers on 22 tries through the hoop. J'Covan Brown led the team with 22 points while Myck Kabongo put in a double-double of 14 points 10 assists. Shelden McClellan added 19 from off the bench.
