The No. 15 Virginia Cavaliers bounced back from last week's 61-58loss to the Duke Blue Devils with a 70-38 blowout of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday night.
Virginia got a game-high 18 points from senior forward Mike Scott, who also added seven rebounds and a pair of assists, and 16 points from sophomore guard Joe Harris. One potential bit of bad news was a right ankle injury to 7-foot center Assane Sene in the first half.
The Cavaliers improved to 14-2 on the season and are now 1-1 in the ACC. Virginia hosts in-state rivals Virginia Tech Hokies at 6pm ET on Sunday.
Sophomore forward Kammeon Holsey had 12 points to lead Georgia Tech, who were ice cold from the floor. The Yellow Jackets were just 14-of-48 (29.2 percent) from the floor and 1-of-15 (6.7 percent) on three-point attempts. Georgia Tech fell to 8-9 and are now 1-2 within the ACC heading into Saturday afternoon's game against the Clemson Tigers.
