No. 17 Marquette Vs. Villanova: Golden Eagles Completed The Comeback

The Marquette Golden Eagles trailed by 10 at halftime, but the No. 17 ranked team was able to make a comeback as they defeated the Villanova Wildcats. Darius Johnson Odom scored 26 points in the Golden Eagles road win.

The Marquette Golden Eagles narrowly escaped an upset in Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon as they pulled out a victory over the Villanova Wildcats. The 17th-ranked Golden Eagles didn't make it look easy, but they ended up on top with an 82-78 comeback win.

Marquette trailed by 13 points in the first half on the way to a 46-36 halftime deficit, Darius Johnson-Odom and Jae Crowder were able to bring the Golden Eagles back from the dead. The Wildcats had a couple of opportunities to tie the game with less than a minute left in regulation, but Marquette was able to hold on for the four-point win.

The Golden Eagles were led by Johnson-Odom's 26 points while Crowder chipped in an additional 20 to go with his 13 rebounds. The only other Marquette player to score in double figures was sixth man Jamil Wilson as he scored 12 points before foiling out.

The Wildcats were pretty balanced with five players scoring at least 11 points, but it was forward JayVaughn Pinkston who led the way with 17 points. Maurice Sutton was solid off the bench, too, as he led the way with nine rebounds to go with 11 points, three steals and a block.
