Texas Vs. No. 6 Baylor: Perry Jones III Helps Bears Start New Winning Streak

Perry Jones III and the Baylor Bears were able to start another winning streak on Saturday as they held on to defeat the Texas Longhorns. J'Covan Brown led the Longhorns with 32 points in the loss.

Jan 28, 2012 - The Baylor Bears escaped their home game with the in-state rival Texas Longhorns with a win on Saturday afternoon. Baylor nearly crumbled down the stretch, but the Bears were able to stave off J`Covan Brown on the way to a 76-71 victory.

Brown scored 32 points and dished five assists to lead the Longhorns, but it was a miss from the Longhorns' junior that ultimately decided the game in favor of the home team. Brown made a judgement call to take a three-pointer with 12 seconds left on the clock that would have allowed Texas to tie the game, but it caromed off of the far side of the rim to allow Baylor to close out the game.

Baylor was led by NBA lottery prospect Perry Jones III as he scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as one of four Bears players to score in double figures. Quincy Miller added 18 points while point guard Pierre Jackson struggled on his way to seven points seven assists and six turnovers.

Brown was essentially a one-man show for Texas --and a good one at that as he hit half of his field goal attempts and turned the ball over just three times. Myck Kabongo was the only other Longhorns player in double figures with 12 points in the loss.
