With time running out in Saturday's matchup between West Virginia and Syracuse, the Mountaineers, down two at the time, came down with an offensive rebound and appeared to earn a goaltending call. Deniz Kilicli was in the right place at the right time, but his put-back was pinned by Baye Keita. The problem? It was pinned after it hit the backboard, which would be a goaltend.
Bob Huggins was understandably steamed after the game, and for good reason.
"Do I think it was? No. I know it was. I saw the replay," Huggins said. "It's hard. You've got 30 seconds and you're trying to get them refocused and they're all thinking about other things."
Video of the play in question is after the jump.
It's not really even that close on video. Ball hits backboard, Keita hits ball ... no call. It was an odd situation.
I'd suggest visiting Smoking Musket now, just for the gif in the "We Got Hosed" post.
