No. 21 Wisconsin went 15-of-17 from the free throw line in overtime of their 68-61 win over Minnesota.
No. 21 Wisconsin Badgers hit 15 free throws in overtime to defeat the Minnesota Golden Gophers 68-61 at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Thursday night.
The Badgers led by eight points at the half, but the Golden Gophers went on a 10-0 run over the final seven minutes and 41 seconds to force overtime. In overtime, the Badgers went 15-of-17 from the line to earn a seven-point win.
Senior guard Jordan Taylor led the Badgers with 27 points, while Ryan Evans added 17 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Guard Josh Gasser and forward Jared Berggren added nine points apiece. With the win, the Badgers improved to 19-6 and are 8-4 in the Big Ten and will stay on the road to face No. 12 Michigan State next Thursday night.
In the loss, Minnesota guard Andre Hollins came off the bench to nail five-of-six three-point attempts and lead the team with 20 points. Forward Rodney Williams added 11 points and forward-center Ralph Sampson III had a team-high seven rebounds. The Golden Gophers fell to 17-8 on the season and are 5-7 within the Big Ten with a Tuesday night home game against the Ohio State Buckeyes up next on the schedule.
