PHOTO: New Mexico Lobos Enthusiastically Unveil New Alternate Uniforms

The New Mexico Lobos men's basketball team unveiled their new alternate uniforms this week, celebrating the momentous occasion with one of the sadder college photo shoots in recent memory. Check out the new uniforms, as well as the somber atmosphere of the photo shoot, after the jump.

This is the most enthusiastic picture that the photographers were able to grab. The players had just come from their film history class, where they watched the entirety of Night and Fog, after which they shuffled to the kitchen of the school cafeteria, where they were treated to the sight of two photographers watching a five-foot-tall janitor halfheartedly masking-taping their backdrop to the tile wall. While waiting for the "setup" to be complete, the teammates picked at a carrots-celery-and-ranch party tray that had been opened too far in advance and now the carrots were all getting that white tinge to them.

Just before the photo shoot got underway, the players were presented with the new alternate uniforms, bleak reminders of their confined existence in the almost-completely-square state of New Mexico. They all faked enthusiasm for the uniforms as best they could, managing a less-than-convincing, "Oh hey, g...great. You...you got the, uh, the wolf on there and uh...everything."

Later, the team arrived at Shakey's to be informed that they were 20 minutes too late for the lunch buffet.
