Tyler Zeller led North Carolina to a gritty 54-51 road victory on Saturday.
Tyler Zeller scored 20 points and John Henson added 15 as the No. 7 North Carolina Tar Heels held on earn a gritty road win over the Virginia Cavaliers, 54-51, on Saturday
Harrison Barnes added seven points and nine rebounds in the victory, though he was 0-for-5 for three-point range.
Virginia, who led the game 30-26 at the half, was led by a balanced attack. Jontel Evans led the team with 13 points while Joe Harris added 12 and Sammy Zeglinski scored 11.
The Heels dominated from the free-throw line, making 18-of-23 (78%), whereas the Cavs shot only six foul shots. That made up for an anemic night from beyond the arc (2-of-14) for the Heels. North Carolina also won the rebounding battle, 44-29.
UNC improved to 2-2 in games decided by five points or less this season.
