Southern Conference Basketball Tournament 2012: Schedule And Bracket Announced

The Southern Conference tournament kicks off on Friday, and Davidson is favored to make a return to the NCAA Tournament.

The Southern Conference finished its league play over the weekend, and its conference tournament is one of the earliest, beginning on March 2. The Davidson Wildcats will be serious favorites to take the conference tournament title after going 16-2 in conference, giving them the regular season title by a full four-game margin. The tournament will be played at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, N.C. The SoCon tournament schedule and bracket can be found here.

First Round - Friday, March 2 (SoCon Network, all times ET)

South No. 4 College of Charleston vs. North No. 5 Appalachian State - 11:30 a.m.
North No. 3 Western Carolina vs. South No. 6 The Citadel - 2 p.m.
North No. 4 Samford vs. South No. 5 Furman - 6 p.m.
South No. 3 Georgia Southern vs. North No. 6Chattanooga - 8:30 p.m.

Quarterfinals - Saturday, March 3 (ESPN3)

North No. 1 UNCG vs. C of C/App. St. - 12 p.m.
South No. 2 Wofford vs. WCU/Citadel - 2:30 p.m.
South No. 1 Davidson vs. Samford/Furman - 6 p.m.
North No. 2 Elon vs. GSU/Chattanooga - 8:30 p.m.

Semifinals - Sunday, March 4 (ESPN3 and SoCon Network)

QF1 winner vs. QF2 winner - 6 p.m.
QF3 winner vs. QF4 winner - 8:30 p.m.

Championship - Monday, March 5 (ESPN2)

SF1 winner vs. SF2 winner - 9 p.m.
