No. 7 Duke vs. Virginia Tech: First Half Surge Pushes Blue Devils Past Hokies, 75-60

No. 7 Duke used a late first-half run to defeat Virginia Tech on Thursday night.

The No. 7 Duke Blue Devils used a 13-2 run late in the first half to take a ten-point lead over the Virginia Hokies en route to a 75-60 win at the Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia on Thursday night.

Freshman guard Austin Rivers led the Blue Devils with 18 points on seven-of-11 shooting, including four of six from beyond the arc. Junior forward Ryan Kelly added 15 points off the bench for the Blue Devils, who improved to 19-3 overall and are now 6-1 within the ACC.

Duke hosts the Miami Hurricanes at Cameron Indoor Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Guard Eric Green had a team-high 17 points for the Hokies, who also got 16 points from forward Victor Davila. Both Green and Davila notched seven rebounds.

With the loss, the Hokies fell to 12-10 overall and are 1-6 in the ACC with the Clemson Tigers visiting Blacksburg on Saturday afternoon.
