The second-ranked Syracuse Orange got a career-high 29 points from Kris Joseph to defeat the No.12 Georgetown Hoyas 67-64 in overtime at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York on Wednesday.
Joseph also tied a career-high with six three-point field goals in the game, including the game-winner from the left corner in the final minute of overtime. Syracuse also got 11 points from Fabricio Melo and nine points from Dion Waiters. Syracuse is now 24-1 and 11-1 within the Big East with a weekend home game against the Connecticut Huskies.
For the Hoyas, Otto Porter had a team-high 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, with Jason Clark chipping in with 12 points. Junior forward Hollis Thompson had 10 points and 11 rebounds. With the loss, the Hoyas dropped to 18-5 on the season and 8-4 in Big East play. Georgetown will host the St. John's Red Storm on Sunday afternoon at the Verizon Center.
