The eighth-seeded Portland Pilots will continue their long journey toward winning the 2012 West Coast Conference Tournament when they play their second game of the postseason Thursday against the fifth-seeded San Francisco Dons (18-12 overall, 8-8 WCC).
On Wednesday night, the Pilots (7-23 overall, 3-13 WCC) defeated the WCC No. 9 Santa Clara, 74-70, on the strength of Ryan Nicholas' 24 points and 11 rebounds. It was the team's fourth win against a WCC team this season, with two of the three wins in the regular season also coming against Santa Clara..
San Francisco blew out Portland at home, 104-70, on Jan. 12, but escaped with a 72-71 victory on Jan. 21. San Francisco's signature win of the season (so far) came Feb. 18 when they defeated the Gonzaga Bulldogs, 66-65. However, they are coming off a loss to the St. Mary's Gaels, 67-60.
