Georgia Tech Kicks Glen Rice, Jr. Off Team After Shooting Incident

Stay connected with SB Nation

Shortly before the 2012 ACC Tournament began, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets shooting guard Glen Rice Jr. was involved in a shooting incident outside an Atlanta nightclub and was suspended indefinitely by the team. Now it appears as though his career as a Yellow Jacket has come to an ignominious end.

The Associated Press via SI.com reports that Rice has now been kicked off the team altogether.

Coach Brian Gregory made the announcement Tuesday, less than a week after Rice, a graduate student manager and another person were charged. The 6-foot-5 junior guard will remain enrolled at school and complete his academic requirements for spring semester.

Gregory says "there are certain standards that have to be met both on and off the court, and there has to be accountability when those standards aren't met."

It's safe to say that neither Rice, nor his team, imagined this is the way Georgia Tech's leading scorer and rebounder would end his season and his time at the school.
