And thus ends the first season for Bryce Drew as head coach of the Valparaiso Crusaders. Unfortunately for him, it didn't include any postseason buzzer-beater magic.

The Horizon League's regular-season champions were upset in the conference tournament final, and they didn't fare much better in their NIT first-round game on Wednesday. They struggled offensively as the Miami Hurricanes shot the ball well in a 66-50 win.

Rion Brown scored 18 points while shooting 4-of-7 from behind the three-point arc. As a team, the Hurricanes shot 10-of-22 from three-point range. Valpo tried to use the three to stay with a more athletic Miami team, but they struggled from distance, shooting just 5-of-27 from behind the arc. Richie Edwards and Ryan Broekhoff performed well, scoring 16 and 18 points respectably, but they didn't get much in the way of offensive help from their teammates.

Miami will face the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the second round.
