No. 13 Michigan kept its Big Ten regular season title hopes alive with a 72-61 win over Illinois.
The No. 13 Michigan Wolverines kept their hopes for a share of the Big Ten title alive with a 72-61 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini at Assembly Hall in Champaign, Illinois on Thursday night.
Tim Hardaway Jr. led all scorers with 25 points on six of seven shooting, including a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc. The sophomore added a game-high 11 rebounds, with forward Jordan Morgan helping on the boards with seven rebounds to go along with his seven points. Guard Trey Burke added 21 points and had a game-high five assists for the Wolverines, who improved to 22-8 overall and 12-5 in the Big Ten. They close out their Big Ten regular season schedule with a road game against the Penn St. Nittany Lions on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore forward Meyers Leonard led the Illini with 18 points and nine rebounds, with guard Brandon Paul adding 15 points and six rebounds. Guard Tracy Abrams added 12 points and five rebounds for the Illini, who have lost 10 of their last 12 games to fall to 17-13 overall and 6-11 within the Big Ten. Illinois' regular season schedule comes to an end when they travel to Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday.
