Drexel Vs. VCU Final Score: Rams Hold On After Furious Dragons Rally, Win 59-56

Down by as many as 16 points to the Va. Commonwealth Rams, the Drexel Dragons, winners of 19 straight coming into the game, made a furious comeback in the second half, fueled by some inspired play by freshman Damion Lee. After being hounded relentlessly in the first half by VCU's "havoc" defense, Drexel and Lee got their confidence back and brought the game to within one point in the final minute, but it wasn't enough. The Rams finally started making their free throws, and they held on to win, 59-56, clinching the Colonial Athletic Association championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Here's the chaotic final sequence:

The key cog for the Rams all night was Darius Theus. He was the ultimate catalyst for head coach Shaka Smart's terrifying defense, and he finished with 16 points, five assists and five steals on the night. The Rams overcame a so-so performance from Bradford Burgess, the lone returning starter from last year's Final Four team. He was 2-9 from the floor for just six points, but was key on defense in stymying Drexel's Samme Givens, who had just three points.

The man who led Drexel's second-half comeback was Lee, however, especially in the final 10 minutes. He finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and you can see how important he was in this little montage:

Ultimately, it was turnovers that did in the Dragons. They had 17 in the game, 12 in the first half, and struggled with VCU's pressure all night long. The Rams had a ridiculous 10 steals as a team. VCU receives the conference's automatic bid, but it's hard to imagine the Dragons being left out of the tournament. They should be receiving an at-large bid.

Drexel Vs. VCU Score: Rams Defense Wreaking Havoc On Drexel

The Drexel Dragons have won 19 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in the country, but that is in serious jeopardy Monday night in the championship game of the Colonial Athletic Association, thanks to the terrorizing defense of the Va. Commonwealth Rams. Shaka Smart's patented "havoc" defense has led to 12 first-half Dragon turnovers, and the Rams lead 35-19.

The key to Smart's defense is active hands and lots and lots of trapping, and it's working perfectly. The Rams have eight steals, three by Darius Theus, who also has 10 points and three assists to lead VCU. Here's a great montage put together by the ESPN crew broadcasting the game that epitomizes how the Rams have harangued the Dragons into so many turnovers.

That's the same style of play that keyed VCU's run to the Final Four last year, even though just one starter — Bradford Burgess, who has four points, two rebounds and two steals — remains from that team. It's safe to say the Dragons, who beat VCU in their only previous contest this year, have been caught with their pants down.

Pants_medium

The only good thing going for the Dragons in the first half was the play of guard Frantz Massenat, who was relentless in attacking VCU's pressure, and was able to score eight points to lead his team. Someone else will have to step up if the Dragons are going to have a chance to come back in this one.

2012 CAA Tournament Championship, Drexel Vs. VCU: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

Drexel and VCU have appeared to be on a collision course in the 2012 CAA Tournament since it began. On Monday, they will finally meet in Richmond with an automatic berth in the 2012 NCAA Tournament on the line.

The top-seeded Dragons knocked off UNC-Wilmington and Old Dominion to reach the final, while No. 2 VCU, trying to return to the NCAA Tournament in hopes of staging another run to the Final Four to rival their effort in 2011, topped Northeastern and George Mason en route to its matchup with Drexel.

The two teams only met once this season, with Drexel pulling out a 64-58 home win in early January. But both teams have been superb since, with the Dragons reeling off 19-straight wins since a January loss to Georgia State, and the Rams winning 16 of 17 games since their loss to Drexel.

Neither team has the profile of an at-large NCAA Tournament team, so it's likely a win-or-go-home affair in Richmond on Monday night.

Game Date/Time: Monday, March 5, 7 p.m. ET

Venue: Richmond Coliseum, Richmond, Virginia

VCU Vs. George Mason Final Score: Rams Advance To CAA Conference Championship Game With 74-64 Win

The Virginia Commonwealth Rams led 32-4 at one point in the first half, as the George Mason Patriots went over eight minutes without a field goal to start the game. George Mason eventually found something resembling offensive rhythm, but the large early deficit proved too much to overcome. The Rams will play in the CAA Conference Championship Game on Monday after defeating the Patriots 74-64 on Sunday.

VCU started 7-for-7 from beyond the 3-point arc, but went just 4-for-18 the rest of the way. Bradford Burgess and Troy Daniels stayed hot for 40 minutes, however, leading the Rams with 20 and 17 points, respectively. The two were a combined 9-for-17 from long range.

Mike Morrison was dominant for George Mason, scoring 20 in addition to 11 rebounds to help his team claw back. The Patriots dominated the Rams on the boards, with 38-20 advantage on rebounds. They also committed 17 turnovers, however. CAA Player of the Year Ryan Pearson never got going with just three field goal attempts and six points for the game.

VCU Vs. George Mason Score: Anemic Start Puts Patriots In 48-32 Hole At Halftime

The George Mason Patriots did not make a field goal for over eight minutes to start the first half, going down 32-4 at one point before clawing their way back to be down only 48-32 against the Viginia Commonwealth Rams on Sunday.

The Rams shot lights out from the starting gate, at one point going 7-for-7 from beyond the 3-point line. They cooled, making just 1-of-6 to finish out the half, but the offensive performance was impressive nonetheless. Bradford Burgess and Troy Daniels had 11 points each to lead the way, combining to go 6-for-10 from beyond the arc.

Mike Morrison finally got things going for the Patriots, scoring 12 on 5-for-7 from the field, adding six rebounds and two blocks to put George Mason on the verge of respectability going into the locker room. CAA Conference Player of the Year Ryan Pearson has just two points and three turnovers for the game.

CAA Tournament 2012: Bracket And Schedule For Day 3 Semifinals

The Colonial Athletic Association is deeper than most mid-major conferences, with a few teams that might make the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Some of them will meet on Sunday in the CAA semifinals.

Top-seeded Drexel will meet No. 4 Old Dominion in the day's first semifinal, and No. 2 VCU and No. 3 George Mason will match up in a showdown between the conference's two Final Four representatives of recent vintage. Of the four teams, only Old Dominion would really be seen as a dark horse tournament winner, but there's only one spot for a CAA team in the NCAA Tournament in SB Nation's latest bracketology, so all four will likely be playing what could be their last games of the season on Sunday.

Here is Sunday's schedule. The full bracket can be found here.

Schedule (ESPN3 and Comcast Sportsnet)

No. 1 Drexel vs. No. 4 Old Dominion - 2:00 p.m. ET

No. 2 VCU vs. No. 3 George Mason - 4:30 p.m. ET

George Mason Vs. Georgia State Final Score: Patriots Survive And Advance, 61-59

George Mason will advance to a Colonial Athletic Association Tournament semifinal against VCU after a 61-59 victory against Georgia State in a quarterfinal on Saturday. But the Patriots' win was very much about survival.

Georgia State held a five-point lead at halftime, but the Patriots took it back with an 11-4 run after the break. Then Mason built it up to 10 points midway through the second half, only for the Panthers to whittle it to two points in time to launch a potentially game-winning 30-footer as time expired. But it missed without incident, giving George Mason, which got 12 points from Mike Morrison and at least four points from all nine Patriots who scored, a date with the CAA's other Final Four Cinderella in the CAA Tournament semifinals.

The Panthers' James Fields had 15 points off the bench to lead all scorers.

George Mason Vs. Georgia State Score: Panthers Up 30-25

The second semifinal of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament has more closely resembled a rock fight than a basketball game between two competent teams in the first half. The Georgia State Panthers have a 30-25 lead on George Mason at halftime despite that.

Rashaad Richardson's seven points have paced the Panthers, who also got six points off the bench from James Fields. The Panthers have shot just 35.8 percent from the field, but getting to the line 11 times and sinking eight free throws has helped keep them ahead.

The Patriots have had even more trouble putting the basketball in the hoop. Shooting an even less impressive 34.4 percent, George Mason's gotten its contributions primarily from Mike Morrison, Vaughn Gray, and Erik Copes. Morrison leads all scorers with eight points on the night. Gray, with five points, and Copes, with four, are the only other Patriots with multiple made field goals.

VCU Vs. Northeastern Final Score: Rams Hold Off Huskies, 75-65

After an ugly, low-scoring first half that ended in a 26-26 tie, Shaka Smart must have given the Va. Commonwealth Rams a stern talking to in the locker room, because they came out like gangbusters in the second half and held off a late surge by the Northeastern Huskies to win, 75-65, and advance to the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

The Rams used terrifyingly active hands (14 steals) and terrific bench scoring — 19 from Rob Brandenberg, 16 from Treveon Graham, both reserves — to run away from the Huskies. The Rams are the conference's No. 2 seed, but weren't playing like it in the first half. They finished with 45 percent shooting from long range, a key component in their winning formula.

The seventh-seeded Huskies played valiantly in a loss to a team that features many Final Four veterans. Their most impressive performers, Joel Smith, Quincy Ford and Jonathan Lee, will all be returning next year, when they'll certainly help the Huskies finish better than a seventh seed. Smith and Ford scored 17 points apiece — Ford, a freshman, also had 11 rebounds — and Lee scored 16, but had seven turnovers, victimized by the Rams' fast hands.

VCU Vs. Northeastern Score: Huskies Staying With Rams, 26-26, At Halftime

In what could turn into one of the biggest upsets of the mid-major conference tournament season, the seventh-seeded Northeastern Huskies are tied with the second-seeded Va. Commonwealth Rams, featuring many of the players who were on last year's Final Four team, 26-26 in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

The Rams were leading by as much as nine in the first half, but the Huskies battled back, largely thanks to the duo of junior Joel Smith, who's scored 12 points, and freshman Quincy Ford, who's grabbed seven rebounds and is Northeastern's second-leading scorer, with five. The Huskies' three-point shooting and defense helped them score the half's final eight points to knot the score.

VCU's young head coach, Shaka Smart, can't be happy with the way his team closed the half. The Rams obviously know how to win big games, but they appeared to lose intensity, especially the starters when they returned off the bench. Treveon Graham, a reserve guard, leads them in scoring with six points, all on three-pointers.

Old Dominion Vs. Delaware Final Score: Monarchs Advance To CAA Semifinals

The Old Dominion Monarchs kept their NCAA tournament hopes alive on Saturday with an 88-74 win over Delaware. The win clinched ODU's seventh 20-win season in the last eight years. The No. 4-seeded Monarchs advanced to the semifinals where they will face No. 1 seed Drexel on Sunday afternoon in Richmond. Drexel defeated ODU by one in a thriller during last weekend's regular season finale.

With Selection Sunday a week away, read more here on SB Nation's bracketology projections.

The Monarchs shot the ball well from the floor all afternoon, hitting 49 percent from the field while racing out to 47 points in the first half and putting five players in double figures. Senior Kent Bazemore led ODU with 24 points and three of five shooting from behind the arc. Bazemore and ODU were highlighted by SB Nation's Bill Connelly before the tournament, and he came through big in their first game. The star wing also grabbed nine boards, pacing a 10-board advantage on the glass over the Blue Hens. The Monarchs were in control for much of the second half, enjoying a double digit lead and cruising to 14-point win. It will certainly get harder tomorrow against the top seeded Dragons.

CAA Tournament 2012, George Mason Vs. Georgia State: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The Georgia State Panthers dominated a downtrodden Hofstra squad on Friday to advance to the second round of the 2012 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Forward Eric Buckner led the way, scoring 21 on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting and picking up 11 rebounds. The competition ramps up significantly on Saturday, however. Buckner will go to head-to-head with CAA Player of the Year Ryan Pearson and the George Mason Patriots in Richmond at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN3.

Pearson has been nothing short of dominant this year for the 3-seed Patriots, averaging 17.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. SB Nation's Bill Connelly had the 6'6 left-hander as his No. 1 player to watch in this year's tournament. In the only meeting between the two schools, Pearson was actually held relatively in check, picking up just 10 points and six rebounds. The extra attention on the star forward allowed his teammates to break out, however. Mike Morrison had 14 points and 15 rebounds, and Vertrail Vaughns scored 17 to lead George Mason to a 61-58 win.

If the 6-seed Panthers hope to pull of the upset, they will need to be much better on the boards. The Patriots enjoyed a 36-26 advantage during the January meeting. If Buckner stays hot, and can hold his own against Pearson, this game could be one of the closest affairs of the tournament.

Drexel Vs. UNCW Final Score: Dragons Pull Away In Second Half, Advance In 2012 CAA Tournament

The Drexel Dragons pulled away in the second half of Saturday's CAA Men's Basketball Tournament game against the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks, leading by as many as 18 points before settling on a 59-47 final score. Chris Fouch scored 12 points in the first half, and still led the the Dragons in scoring despite a quiet second half with 14 points total.

The Dragons weren't necessarily more effective in the second half. The Seahawks went cold, dropping their shooting percentage to 34.7 percent after shooting 43.5 percent in the first half. Donte Morales had a nice outing, going 4-for-7 from the field for 13 points in addition to nine rebounds. Guards Tanner Milson and Adam Smith were a combined 7-for-21, however, with Smith going just 1-for-4 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Frantz Massenat scored seven of his 11 points, and Damion Lee scored eight of 10 in the second half to pace the Dragons' surge. Drexel also did a much better job on the boards in the second half, outrebounding the Seahawks 21-13 after intermission. Drexel will play the winner of Saturday's 2:30 p.m. ET game between Old Dominion at Delaware in the third round of the CAA Tournament

2012 CAA Tournament, Northeastern Vs. VCU: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

CAA regular season runners-up VCU begin their CAA tournament campaign on Saturday night, when they take on Northeastern in the quarterfinals. Northeastern was surprisingly tested on Friday by a poor William and Mary team, and will be serious underdogs against the reigning NCAA semifinalists.

No one is expecting VCU to make a return to the Final Four, but a run to the final of the CAA conference tournament should see them return to the NCAA tournament. They are very much a bubble team at present, and a loss to Northeastern on Saturday could keep them out of the big dance.

VCU won the only previous meeting between the two teams this season, but they didn't do in comfortably. Some poor free throw shooting by the Rams allowed Northeastern to keep it close, as VCU squeaked out a 59-56 win in Richmond.

Drexel Vs. UNCW Score: Top-Seeded Dragons Up 27-22 At Halftime

The top-seeded Drexel Dragons are getting everything they can handle from the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks during Saturday's 2012 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament game in Richmond. The Seahawks are shooting 43.5 percent from the field, and hold a 16-10 advantage on the boards going into halftime down just five points against a heavily favored opponent.

Keith Rendleman scored seven points on 3-for-4 shooting from the field to lead the Seahawks. Perhaps more importantly, forward Donte Morales has been solid on the boards, picking up six rebounds to go along with his four points. His physical play has helped make up for a 7-1 turnover advantage for the Dragons.

Chris Fouch accounted for the biggest chunk of Drexel's points, scoring 12 on 5-for-10 shooting from the floor. He is just 2-for-7 from beyond the 3-points line, however, and the Dragons are just 2-for-12 for the game. The Dragons will need a better performance from Damion Lee (1-for-4, 0-for-3 from 3-point range) if they hope to pull away in the second half.

2012 CAA Basketball Tournament, Delaware Vs. Old Dominion: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

Following their too-close-for-comfort win over the Colonial Athletic Association's worst team, the Towson Tigers, the fifth-seeded Delaware Blue Hens will take on the fourth-seeded Old Dominion Monarchs Saturday afternoon in the second round of the conference tournament with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

The Blue Hens will try to coax another massive scoring game out of sophomore guard Devon Saddler, who poured in 28 in the Towson game. Paired with freshman guard Jarvis Threatt, who scored 15 despite shooting just 3-for-12, the Fightin' Blue Hens' backcourt is young, fearless and talented.

Whether it can match Old Dominion, a team SB Nation's Bill Connelly called the conference's dark horse, will be the question of the day. In the previous matchup, the Monarchs won by just two in January, but there's no telling how a team will respond to the pressure-packed atmosphere of a conference tournament. If history is any indication, ODU will be up to the challenge; they upset George Mason and VCU to win the tournament last year.

The game will tip off at 2:30 p.m. ET. You can watch the game live on CAASports.com, or you can listen to the live audio on the CAA mobile app.

CAA Tournament 2012: Bracket And Schedule For Day 2's Quarterfinals

The Colonial Athletic Association is a conference with a lot of quality teams that aren't separated by much, but without a clear at-large NCAA team. Drexel and VCU need to get to the final to feel like they have any chance at an at-large bid and a loss in the final might not be good enough for George Mason to get to the big dance. The CAA's big boys are all in action on Day 2 of the tournament, and all of them will feel like they need to win.

Regular season champions Drexel start the action with an early afternoon game against UNC-Wilmington. VCU kicks off the night session with a game against Northeastern, while George Mason plays in the night cap against Georgia State.

Here is Saturday's schedule. The full bracket can be found here.

2012 CAA Basketball Tournament, Drexel Vs. UNC-Wilmington: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The top-seeded Drexel Dragons get a chance to show why they were the best team in the Colonial Athletic Association during the regular season when they take on the ninth-seeded UNC-Wilmington Seahawks in the first game of the second round Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks are coming off an 11-point victory in their first-round game against James Madison Friday, so they have momentum working in their favor. They also happen to feature a big man named Keith Rendelman, who's quite good. Here's what SB Nation's Bill Connelly wrote about him:

5. Keith Rendelman, UNC Wilmington. Perhaps the best pure-post player in the conference, Rendleman led UNCW and was fifth in the CAA in scoring at 15.6 points per game, and was second in the conference and 12th in the nation in rebounding (10.5 rpg). He has recorded 16 double-doubles this season, which is tied for the sixth-best total in the nation.

Rendelman and the Seahawks have a very tall task ahead of them, however, as Drexel comes in on a 17-game winning streak. The Dragons are as balanced a team as there is in the country -- they rank 58th in offense and defense -- and they should be able to contain Rendelmen, which would effectively neutralize any advantage the Seahawks have over them.

The game will tip off at 12 p.m. ET. You can watch the game live on CAASports.com, or you can listen to the live audio on the CAA mobile app. You can find the full bracket and schedule for the CAA men's basketball tournament by clicking right here.

Georgia State Vs. Hofstra Final Score: Panthers Blow Out Pride, 85-50

It was apparent very early on that the Hofstra Pride, the Colonial Athletic Association's 11th seed, were completely overmatched against the sixth-seeded Georgia St. Panthers and their dominant forward, Eric Buckner. Bucker, a 6-foot-7 senior, scored 21 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, shot a perfect 7-7 from the field and didn't turn the ball over once while leading the Panthers to an 85-50 victory and a second-round matchup against the No. 3 seed, the George Mason Patriots.

Buckner was joined in the "major contributor" category by teammates Devonta White, who had 13 points and two assists, and James Fields, who scored 14. Buckner wasn't the only efficient Panther scorer, as the team shot 59.6 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from the charity stripe. They also turned the ball over just eight times against 16 total assists.

On the flip side, the Pride, who won just three CAA games in the regular season, had 14 turnovers and seven assists, shot 34.8 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from long distance. They were led by Mike Moore with 16 points and Stevie Mejia with 14.

The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks came in as the ninth seed in the tournament and had little trouble dispatching the No. 8-seeded James Madison Dukes by a final score of 70-59. The Seahawks will take on the No. 1-seeded Drexel Dragons on Saturday.

The Delaware Blue Hens knocked off the Towson Tigers by a final of 72-65. The Hens were the No. 5 seed and will face the No. 4-seeded Old Dominion Monarchs.

No. 10 seed William & Mary fell to the No. 7 Northeastern Huskies 57-49. The Huskies earned themselves the right to take on No. 2-seeded VCU in the quarterfinals.

The biggest blowout of the first round featured the No. 6 Georgia St. Panthers coasting to an 85-50 win over the Hofstra Pride. The Panthers will meet the No. 3-seeded George Mason Patriots on the quarterfinals.

Georgia State Vs. Hofstra Score: Panthers Chewing Up Pride, Lead 45-24 At Halftime

The Georgia St. Panthers are taking it to the Hofstra Pride in the last game of the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament, leading 45-24 and dominating every facet of the game. If the Panthers, the tournament's No. 6 seed, manage to not blow this lead, they'll play third-seeded George Mason Saturday night.

Eric Buckner had what can only be described as a perfect first half for the Panthers. He scored 14 points, pulled down eight rebounds, shot 4-4 from the field, 6-6 from the foul line with two blocks and no turnovers. The Pride have had no answers for the 6-foot-7 senior forward. Guard Devonta White has chipped in 11 as well for Georgia State.

The Pride were led in scoring by guard Mike Moore with nine points, but he's shot just 2-7 from the field as his teammates have missed five shots combined. As a team, the Pride have two assists, nine turnovers and six rebounds, which should tell you all you need to know about how they've performed.

CAA Tournament 2012, Northeastern Vs. William & Mary Final Score: Huskies Edge Tribe, 57-49

Despite going 4-14 in conference play and 6-25 overall, the 10th-seeded William & Mary Tribe gave the seventh-seeded Northeastern Huskies (13-16, 9-9) all they could handle in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament, but the Huskies prevailed, 57-49. It was the first time that the Huskies had ever beaten the Tribe in Virginia (the tournament's being held in Richmond), and they'll play the VCU Rams on Saturday.

After leading just 26-22 after halftime, the Huskies jumped out to a 12-point advantage early in the second half with four quick three-pointers, but the Tribe battled back, bringing it to within three with a little more than six minutes to go. They never got it closer, however, and the Huskies managed to avoid the upset.

Quincy Ford led all scorers with 18 for the Huskies, including three three-pointers right after halftime to extend their lead. Tim Rusthoven led the Tribe with 12 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort.

Northeastern Vs. William & Mary Score: Huskies Lead Tribe, 26-22, At Halftime

In the third matchup of the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament, the seventh-seeded Northeastern Huskies have a six-point lead over the No. 10 seed, the William & Mary Tribe, 26-22. The two lower seeds, locked in a low-scoring battle for the rights to play the second-seed, the VCU Rams, are having trouble putting the ball in the basket, but are keeping it exciting in Richmond.

Quincy Ford and Jonathan Lee have combined for 11 of the Huskies' 26 points in the first half, and the Huskies as a team have only turned the ball over five times, an unexpectedly low mark for such a low-scoring game.

Of course, they haven't been quite as ineffective as the Tribe, who are replacing loads of talent from last year's team, which competed for the conference's NCAA bid. Forward Tim Rusthoven leads all scorers with eight points for William & Mary, but none of his teammates have scored more than four.

Delaware Vs. Towson Final Score: Blue Hens Into Quarterfinals After 72-65 Win

The fifth-seeded Delaware Blue Hens defeated No. 12 seed Towson Tigers by a score of 72-65 in the first round of the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball tournament on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Blue Hens are now set to take on No. 4 seed Old Dominion Monarchs in the quarterfinal round on Saturday afternoon. After pulling out to a 36-25 halftime lead and limiting Towson to just 21.2 percent shooting, Delaware allowed the Tigers to work their way back into the game in the second half, but eventually sealed the victory with 11 free throws and a dunk to finish up on a 13-8 run.

To say Towson's season has been a disappointment would be a gross understatement. The loss moved them to 1-31 overall, but it's hard to blame senior forward Robert Nwankwo in this one. He finished the game with an absurd line of 27 points and 20 rebounds (including 12 offensive boards). However, only one other player scored in double figures -- guard Kris Walden, who added 13 points -- and the team shot just 33.8 percent from the floor.

Nwankwo destroyed Delaware on the glass, but sophomore guard Devon Saddler managed to match him in the scoring department for the Blue Hens. Saddler poured in a game-high 28 points and iced the game from the free throw line at the finish, while teammate Josh Brinkley contributed 14 points on 5-8 shooting.

To make up for the 48-27 deficit in rebounding, Delaware took great care of the ball (six turnovers), forced turnovers on the defensive end (10 steals) and converted their chances at the free-throw line (27-38 as a team). The quarterfinal matchup between Delaware and Old Dominion is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday afternoon.

Delaware Vs. Towson Score: Blue Hens Lead 36-25 At The Half

The second game of the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball tournament is currently in progress, and the fifth-seeded Delaware Blue Hens have jumped out to a 36-25 halftime lead over the No. 12 seed Towson Tigers. The winner will take on No. 4 seed Old Dominion Monarchs in the quarterfinal round on Saturday afternoon.

An early deficit is nothing new for Towson. They are just 1-30 overall this season and are showing why in the first half of this game. No player in the Tigers' starting lineup is shooting better than 33 percent, and the team is a pathetic 7-33 from the field. They have stayed in the game by collecting 11 offensive rebounds, but the Tigers will eventually need to hit some shots if they hope to pull off an upset.

Meanwhile, junior forward Josh Brinkley and sophomore guard Devon Saddler have each scored 10 points for Delaware. Although the Blue Hens are just 2-12 from beyond the arc, they have hit 10-18 field goals inside the three-point line and only turned the ball over twice as a team.

James Madison Vs. UNC Wilmington Final Score: Seahawks Advance With 70-59 Win

In the first game of first round action in the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball tournament, the No. 9 UNC-Wilmington Seahawks pulled off a 70-59 win over the No. 8 James Madison Dukes. The higher seed jumped out to an early 14-3 lead thanks to two quick assists from Devon Moore and Humpty Hitchens, but the Seahawks powered back, outscored James Madison 67-45 the rest of the way and held the lead for the entire second half.

Freshman forward Cedrick Williams was the star of the show. He scored a game-high 22 points, grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and mixed an efficient 7-12 shooting performance with 8-10 from the free throw line. Keith Rendelman did a little bit of everything, as he contributed 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win. Despite shooting just 2-11 from beyond the arc as a team, the Seahawks managed to balance it out by getting to the line often -- they hit 26-32 on free throws -- and grabbing 15 offensive rebounds.

For James Madison, Humpty Hitchens and Arman Marks were the only players to score in double figures. They each produced 12 points, but the Dukes only shot 40 percent from the field as a team.

After earning the win, UNC-Wilmington now must turn their focus to a Saturday matchup against the top-seeded Drexel Dragons in the quarterfinal round.

CAA Basketball Tournament, Northeastern Vs. William & Mary: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The 2012 CAA Tournament tips off on Friday with a bevy of basketball games, but one of the closer contests might take place between the Northeastern Huskies and William & Mary Tribe. William & Mary won just six games during the regular season, less than half of Northeastern's 13 total victories, but the two squads split the season series.

Their third meeting will take place on Friday night at 6 p.m. in a match-up featuring the renowned battle between the No. 7 and 10 seeds in the tournament. The game won't be on TV, but the conference is streaming the games online for a fee of $4.95.

Northeastern lost six of their final eight games of the season, including a 25-point loss to William & Mary on Feb. 11, but will look to rebound behind the play of junior guard Jonathan Lee. The 6-foot-2 junior averaged 14.6 points and 4.0 rebounds during the season while shooting an impressive 41 percent from beyond the arc.

William & Mary hasn't had any particular player standout this season, but sophomore guard Brandon Britt could be instrumental in moving his team through to the next round. Britt, a 6-foot-1 guard, scored 24 points against Northeastern in their blowout victory earlier this season despite finishing the schedule by averaging less than 10 points.

The winner of Friday night's game will play the VCU Commodores, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, on Saturday.
