The NIT semifinal matchup between the Stanford Cardinal and UMass Minutemen is very much a standard-issue NIT semifinal between two solid teams that were never really close to the NCAA Tournament bubble. For both of them, a good showing in the NIT is representative of a decent season and a good building block for next year.
Stanford haven't really faced a tough game against a top-quality opponent so far in this tournament. They went through a couple of average mid-majors in Cleveland State and Illinois State before crushing Nevada in the semifinal. UMass went 9-7 in the A-10 and is coming off a win over Drexel, so they're likely to be Stanford's biggest test thus far in the NIT.
Game Date/Time: Tuesday, March 27, 7:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
TV: ESPN2/ESPN3
