Virginia Military and UNC-Asheville are locked together in a tight battle at halftime during Saturday's championship game at the 2012 Big South Tournament. The Bulldogs went into the locker room up 36-35 over the Keydets, led by 11 points from guard J.P. Primm.
UNC-Asheville shot 54.2 percent for the half, dominating a VMI squad shooting just 40 percent. The Keydets have kept the game close with their long range shooting, however, going 6-for-17 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Bulldogs are just 1-for-5 from the perimeter.
VMI held a slight advantage on the boards, 14-13, over UNC-Asheville, and committed just one more turnover. They haven't been able to get to the free throw line as often, however, shooting 5-for-6 from the charity stripe compared to 9-for-12 for the Bulldogs.
