The second semifinal of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament has more closely resembled a rock fight than a basketball game between two competent teams in the first half. The Georgia State Panthers have a 30-25 lead on George Mason at halftime despite that.
Rashaad Richardson's seven points have paced the Panthers, who also got six points off the bench from James Fields. The Panthers have shot just 35.8 percent from the field, but getting to the line 11 times and sinking eight free throws has helped keep them ahead.
The Patriots have had even more trouble putting the basketball in the hoop. Shooting an even less impressive 34.4 percent, George Mason's gotten its contributions primarily from Mike Morrison, Vaughn Gray, and Erik Copes. Morrison leads all scorers with eight points on the night. Gray, with five points, and Copes, with four, are the only other Patriots with multiple made field goals.
