Saint Mary's came into the West Coast Conference with a gaudy ranking and a chance to carry momentum into the 2012 NCAA Tournament. But the San Francisco Dons might make some alterations to that plan, and have taken a 38-34 lead on the Gaels to halftime of their WCC Tournament semifinal.
Cody Doolin and Rashad Greene have combined to position San Francisco for the upset, scoring 15 and 11 points, respectively. Both guards also have multiple threes on the night, but the Dons are also playing well as a whole, shooting 60 percent from the field.
Saint Mary's struggles on the night are all about the Gaels' lack of defense, because the offense has been just fine. Clint Steindl has nine points on three threes — and has taken seven shots, all threes — and five other Gaels have at least three points each.
