If everyone but the three best players disappeared from the Big 12 game between the Kansas Jayhawks and Texas Longhorns, it's likely that no one would have noticed. National Player of the Year candidate Thomas Robinson and fellow Jayhawk Tyshawn Taylor were terrific, while Texas guard J'Covan Brown was stunning. Unfortunately for Brown, he didn't have a lot of help as Kansas won 73-63.
Texas is now 19-12 overall and 9-9 in the Big 12. They would have felt extremely confident about nabbing an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament if they were able to grab a signature win at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday, but will now need to do some damage in the Big 12 Tournament to capture a bid. Brown did his part for the Longhorns, leading all scorers with 33 points in a fantastic performance, but Texas' next leading scorer was Clint Chapman with just 10 points.
Robinson scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Kansas, while Taylor scored 22 points on his Senior Night. He was removed from the game in the final minute and left to a standing ovation. As a team, Kansas out-rebounded Texas 35-26 while also shooting 49 percent from the floor to Texas' 38 percent.
