ACC Tournament Schedule 2012, UNC Vs. Maryland: Game Time, TV Schedule And Preview

Stay connected with SB Nation

The 2012 ACC Tournament will continue on Friday afternoon with the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels taking on the Maryland Terrapins in the quarterfinals. Considering the Tar Heels have lost two games since Dec. 3, it won't be easy for the Terrapins to advance any further in the bracket.

The Tar Heels have been led by the trio of Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller and John Henson this season, and that'll likely be the case once again when the second round of their conference tournament gets underway. The game is scheduled to take place at noon and will be televised on ESPN2.

The Terrapins didn't have very good luck against North Carolina during the regular season, dropping a pair of games by a total of 33 points. Their most recent meeting came on Feb. 29 when Zeller scored 30 points on senior night as the Tar Heels held Maryland to a subpar 36 percent mark shooting from the field.

Maryland enters their third matchup of the season with a bit of momentum, however, following Thursday's 82-60 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to advance through to the next round of the bracket. The Terrapins received huge games from both of their backcourt players as Terrell Stoglin continued to impress with 25 points, while freshman Nick Faust stepped up to score 19 points of his own.

The winner of the Maryland-North Carolina game will advance to the tournament's semifinals on Saturday where they'll play the winner of a Friday afternoon contest between Virginia and North Carolina State.
