John Calipari took Twitter trolling to heights never before seen amongst college basketball coaches when he offered up the following on Tuesday afternoon.
I want to apologize to all the recruits this week. I'm spending the majority of my time answering questions from NBA teams about my six guys
— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) June 26, 2012
Now we have an unexpected response coming from an equally unexpected source in former Kansas State and new South Carolina head coach Frank Martin.
@UKCoachCalipari I love u & u r the best but while u talk 2 the NBA I will talk 2 the future NBA players
— Frank Martin (@FrankMartin_SC) June 27, 2012
The prerequisites are all there: the over-the-top initial praise, the usage of single letters and numerals to take the place of entire words, and then, of course, the thinly veiled giant insult at the end. This is the classic troll off set-up.
I imagine Calipari's reaction to seeing this being akin to the lead kid on the team with uniforms in The Sandlot right after being told he plays baseball like a girl
Troll off. Nine O'clock. Tomorrow. During the draft. Be there, buffalo butt breath.
The world waits.
