Recap: Alabama vs. Vanderbilt

Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - Jeffrey Taylor converted one of his two free-throw attempts with six seconds to play to give the Vanderbilt Commodores a 65-64 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in SEC play at Coleman Coliseum.

Taylor finished the night with 13 points for the Commodores (13-3, 2-0 SEC), matching the output of A.J. Ogilvy as both players also ripped down nine rebounds in the team's seventh consecutive win. John Jenkins and Jermaine Beal came up with 11 points each as well.

The Crimson Tide (11-5, 1-1) were led by Mikhail Torrance who recorded a game- high 23 points and added six assists and five rebounds, while Tony Mitchell picked up 10 points and seven boards. JaMychal Green led the way on the glass with 10 rebounds as the team had a four-game win streak snapped.

Alabama, which had won the previous four games by an average of 15 points, shot 57.7 percent from the field in the first half, eventually taking a 35-28 lead at the break as a result.

In the second half the Tide's lead reached double figures, but it wasn't long before Vandy bounced back and tied the game once again at 45-45. A pair of free throws by Green with 35 seconds remaining locked up the score for the eighth time at 64-64, setting the stage for Taylor's game-winner.

The Commodores, who turned the ball over just eight times, outscored the home team at the free-throw line on the night, 20-10.
