Recap: San Diego vs. Oklahoma

Anchorage, AK (Sports Network) - Brandon Johnson poured in 22 points to pace San Diego to a 76-64 victory over 25th-ranked Oklahoma at the Great Alaska Shootout.

Roberto Mafra tallied 13 points and Patrick McCollum 12 for the Toreros (3-1), who also received 10 points and 10 rebounds from Chris Lewis. De'Jon Jackson posted nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in the victory.

Willie Warren led the way with 30 points for the Sooners (2-2), who were coming off an 82-69 loss at Virginia Commonwealth. Oklahoma shot just 32.8 percent from the field.

Oklahoma trimmed its deficit to 42-35 on Ryan Wright's dunk nearly three minutes into the second half. San Diego then pulled away by scoring the next eight points.

The Sooners were able to get within nine with nearly 11 minutes left following a Warren three-ball, but the Toreros came right back with an ensuing 14-2 flurry to essentially seal the win. The run finished with San Diego ahead, 66-45, with 6 1/2 minutes left.

The Toreros raced out to a 10-3 lead, but the Sooners rallied and eventually went ahead by a 17-14 count following Steven Pledger's three-pointer. Warren followed with another long-distance shot, but the game then turned in favor of San Diego.

What followed was a 14-0 run by the Toreros. Eight of those points came from Johnson, who nailed one from beyond the arc to cap the spurt. A Johnson three- ball represented the final points of the half, boosting San Diego to a 33-27 lead.

The Sooners will battle Houston Thursday night at the tournament, while San Diego will next play on Friday, also against the Cougars...This is the sixth time San Diego has beaten a top 25 opponent...This is USD's first ever venture to the state of Alaska.
