Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jeffery Taylor scored 20 points to lead the Vanderbilt Commodores to an 84-71 victory over the Tennessee State Tigers in a non-conference battle at Memorial Gym.

John Jenkins added 12 points off the bench for Vandy (7-3), while A.J. Ogilvy and Festus Ezeli contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Josh Sain and Jacquan Nobles both netted 14 points apiece for TSU (3-9), while Robert Covington tallied 13 points, to go along with eight rebounds. Lonnie Funderburke also got into the mix, chipping in with 12 points in the loss.

Vanderbilt went into the break with a 43-25 lead after holding the Tigers to a meager 34.5 percent shooting effort from the floor in the opening half.

The Commodores continued their dominance in the second stanza, as the team shot a staggering 79.2 percent from the field, en route to the 13-point win.

Vanderbilt controlled the action in the paint, as the Commodores outscored Tennessee State down low by a 58-18 margin.
