Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Larry Sanders tallied 15 points and 13 rebounds as VCU dispatched Delaware, 66-49, in first-round action of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.

Joey Rodriguez added 12 points and Bradford Burgess scored 10 for the Rams (21-8), who advance to face four-seed George Mason in a Saturday quarterfinal.

Alphonso Dawson scored 13 points and pulled down six boards for the Blue Hens (7-24), who ended the season with seven consecutive defeats. Jawan Carter had eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

VCU's early 14-3 run gave it control of the contest. A Burgess jumper gave the Rams a 17-8 edge just before the midway point of the half. Troy Daniels drained a three for a 23-12 contest, then Ed Nixon's shot from long distance gave VCU a 37-21 edge at the break.

Jamie Skeen's lay-in made it a 45-25 margin for the Rams before four minutes elapsed in the second half, and the Blue Hens never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
