New York, NY (Sports Network) - Dominque Jones scored 20 points with nine rebounds as South Florida downed DePaul, 58-49, in first-round action at the Big East Tournament.

Mike Mercer added 14 points and five boards for the Bulls (20-11), who advance to face the eight-seed Georgetown, in the second round on Wednesday.

Will Walker posted 20 points for the Blue Demons (8-23), who dropped 13 straight to end the season. Mac Koshwal contributed eight points and a game- high 10 rebounds in defeat.

USF led by 15 at the break, but a brief run early in the second half saw DePaul climb within six after Jeremiah Kelly's layup made it 34-28.

Chris Howard's bucket just after the midway point of the half boosted the Bulls' edge to 42-31, and the lead grew to as high as 12, 50-38, on an Augustus Gilchrist layup with 4:12 to go before USF cruised to the buzzer.
