Mark Fox's Georgia Bulldogs were believed to be a bubble team, but the selection committee made them a ten seed in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Dawg Sports gives five reasons why it was important for the Red and Black to make the field of 68.
Several Georgia Bulldogs sports teams carded impressive victories on Friday, including wins by the baseball team over the UCLA Bruins, the softball team over the LSU Tigers, and the men's and women's tennis teams over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Georgia Bulldogs built up a 14-point second-half lead on the Alabama Crimson Tide in Friday afternoon's men's basketball game, but, with a possible NCAA Tournament berth on the line, Mark Fox's team collapsed, falling in overtime in the SEC Tourney.
In a game the Georgia Bulldogs could not afford to lose if the Fox Hounds were to have any hope of making the NCAA men's basketball tournament field, the Red and Black defeated the Auburn Tigers by 18 points in the SEC tournament, setting up a rematch with the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday.
