The Virginia Cavaliers and North Carolina Tar Heels get their respective ACC campaigns underway on Sunday night.
It was ugly early in the season but this team has rebounded nicely and is in good position to host the Monmouth Hawks in early June!
Thank goodness there are two halve to a game!
Virginia freshman Joe Harris continues to impress, as he led the team with three from long range in last night's 62-56 win over Georgia Tech. The Cavaliers are back above .500 at 14-13, and are eighth in the conference at 5-8. Struggling Georgia Tech fell to 11-16, 3-10 ACC.
Virginia dropped 10 treys to lead by as much as 18 in the second half en route to beating Georgia Tech 72-64 and improving to 11-9 on the season and 2-3 in the ACC. Senior Mustapha Farrakhan led the Cavaliers with 23 points (2-4 from the three), followed by freshmen KT Harrell with 17 (3-4 from three) and Joe Harris with 11 (3-5).
Four Cavaliers scored in double figures tonight in a back-and-forth second half that left Virginia on the wrong side, as Boston College edged past the Cavaliers 70-67. Junior Assane Sene had quite the night, posting career highs with 11 points and 5 blocks. He was also one short of a double-double, with nine rebounds.
In its first road game in over six weeks, the Cavaliers led by as much as 10 points late in the first half against the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils, but, just as against Carolina, it was a tale of two halves. Virginia found itself up by six at the half, 31-25, but was outscored by 22 in the second half to fall 76-60.
