Watch TCU Fans Celebrate Big 12: Realignment Official Around The Country

TCU was left for dead more than a decade ago by longtime state rivals when the Big 12 formed from the Big 8 and the remains of the SWC. Since then, they've gone 1-10 in the WAC before catching momentum, escaped to Conference USA, battled into the Mountain West and briefly the Big East, won 10 games nine times since 2000 and even won a dadgum Rose Bowl. And as of midnight, they're officially right back at the power table again, officially members of the Big 12.

Here's the rundown of everything that happened at midnight:

TCU and West Virginia to the Big 12.
Missouri and Texas A&M to the SEC.
Temple to the Big East.
Fresno State, Hawai'i and Nevada to the Mountain West.
UMass to the MAC.
Texas-San Antonio and Texas State to the WAC.
VCU and Butler to the A-10, for our hoopsybasket friends.

Conference Realignment: Can The WAC Survive?

Begin composing your obituaries for the WAC, the original super-conference. Long fallen from its glory days of BYU winning a football national title in 1984 and membership that's included TCU, Utah and Arizona, the former 16-team football league could very soon be down to only one or two football-playing members, along with three non-football members.

The Mountain West is reportedly continuing its decade-plus of raiding the WAC, with Conference USA swooping in for its second round of WAC imports. Even the Sun Belt might pick off a school. Here's the damage at the moment:

~~Fresno St. Bulldogs~~: Leaving for Mountain West in 2012.
~~Hawai'i Warriors~~: Leaving for Mountain West in 2012.
Idaho Vandals.
~~Louisiana Tech Bulldogs~~: Reportedly leaving for Conference USA in 2013.
~~Nevada Wolf Pack~~: Leaving for Mountain West in 2012.
New Mexico St. Aggies.
~~Texas-San Antonio~~: Reportedly leaving for Conference USA in 2013.
Texas State.
~~San Jose St. Spartans~~: Reportedly leaving for Mountain West in 2013.
~~Utah State Aggies~~: Reportedly leaving for Mountain West in 2013.

Texas State and New Mexico State have both looked to escape to MOUNT USA, while the Sun Belt could have interest in Texas State. Idaho, meanwhile, appears to lack any options whatsoever. The Vandals are likely going down with the ship.

All hope isn't lost, as the WAC can still look to replenish by calling up from the FCS ranks. Brian Murphy lists Utah Valley and Cal State Bakersfield as potential additions. The WAC has also previously courted local FCS teams, including Montana State and Sacramento State, only to withstand some uncounterable sass from the Big Sky commissioner.

Being put in one's place by a FCS conference is a thing that must be avoided at all costs, but remaining a FBS conference is going to require a mess one way or another.

Nevada vs. SJSU: Bars Near Spartans Stadium For Parched Wolfpack Fans

Thanks to a few drunk and disorderly Nevada Wolf Pack fans during last week's loss to Oregon, the University of Nevada has decided to shut down it's bus trip scheduled for Saturday's meeting in San Jose With the SJSU Spartans. And although the school didn't divulge any details, they went as far to say that students violated the student code of conduct, likely being intoxicated in public or what not, causing the school to save face and pull the plug on the bus program. But never fret my thirsty friends, for you can still get loose down in San Jose at a number of bars close to the stadium without consent or permission needed from a university!

There probably was a much smaller turnout for the SJSU bus trip than the one to Oregon, but nevertheless here are some places within walking distance of Spartan Stadium that you and your fellow Wolf Pack can eat, drink, and be merry before watching Nevada extend their win streak over San Jose:

In no particular order:

The Place: A bit of a hard place to find, The Place is the right spot if you want to drink without all the hullaballoo. Also is 'the longest bar in san jose' according to one reviewer, so I guess that's something...

SingleBarrell: This popular spot is right up the alley of any fan before heading to the game, although it's a little over a mile to the stadium to walk (which is good for burning off some booze before the game). Bring your significant other too, it's got a nice vibe for couples as well as groups of friends.

Alex's 49er Inn: $2 dollar wells and beers all day. Enough said.

Clubhouse Restaurant and Sports Lounge: Great bar foods to soak up all the grain alcohol in your system, and a bunch of TV's to watch other games going on. Down the street from Spartan Stadium, you will be getting some walk in for this place as well.

South First Billiards: A bit more of a classy establishment with higher priced drinks, this is for those classy fans that want to chill after the game. They also have live music most nights, which always is a plus for me.

Gordon Biersch: Ya, I know. This is a restaurant. But it's also a restaurant that brews and serves it's own delicious beer, and is really close to the stadium...oh yeah, and Garlic Fries.

College Bowl Game Picks: Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl

I didn't even know this bowl game was real, but it is. It was formerly the Emerald Bowl and it's held at AT&T Park, one of the few bowl games held in Major League Baseball stadiums.

Anyway, Nevada is taking on Boston College tonight in the Fight Hunger Bowl. Nevada went 12-1 and 7-1 in the WAC, including a win over Boise State - costing the Broncos a spot in the Rose Bowl. The Wolf Pack have a prolific offense, scoring over 42 points per game and rushing for over 300 yards per game.

Boston College went 7-5 this year, 4-4 in ACC play. The Eagles snapped a five game losing streak in the middle of the season and went on to win their final five contests to become bowl eligible. BC has a pretty awful offense, ranking 109th in the FBS with just under 19 points per game. The Eagles' defense is what led them to the Fight Hunger Bowl as Boston College allows just over 19 points per game.

Regardless of how good BC's defense is, I'll take Nevada to win this game. They've got a far superior offense and beat a Boise State team that had everything to play for.

This is sadly the second to last college football game of the season. Tomorrow night, of course, we'll crown a champion when Auburn takes on Oregon.

Sunday NFL Playoff Schedule (And Other Non-NFL Viewing)

The first half of the Wild Card round is in the books, and we've seen one monumental upset and one thrilling finish. Can today's Wild Card games deliver on the same level? Here's what we've got on the docket for today.

Noon Central Time, CBS - Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs

The winner of this game will get themselves a trip to Pittsburgh, thanks to the other half of the AFC bracket already being set with the Jets traveling to New England next weekend. Kansas City might be the most unlikely of the six AFC playoff teams this season, as many expected them to still be rebuilding this season. But behind the spectacular play of Matt Cassel at quarterback, the Chiefs put themselves on top of the AFC West and earned a playoff game in front of the raucous crowd at Arrowhead Stadium. They'll be taking on a Baltimore team that has proven to be susceptible to the pass, but still has stars on the defense like Haloti Ngata, Ray Lewis, and Ed Reed that are capable of stepping up their game. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

3:30 PM Central Time, Fox - Green Bay Packers at Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles kind of took Week 17 off, having been locked into the #3 seed in the NFC since their Week 16 loss to the Vikings on Tuesday Night Football. That gave quarterback Michael Vick an opportunity to rest, and he certainly needed it after slowing down a bit over the past few weeks. For all the hype that Philly has gotten, they've only really played half of a good quarter of football in the past three weeks. . .their amazing fourth quarter against the New York Giants a few weeks ago. The Packers have been playing well the past couple of weeks, but they struggled against Vick when he came in to relieve Kevin Kolb in the season opener, and their success will hinge on their ability to contain the Eagles' QB. If the Eagles win this one, they will travel to the midwest to take on the Chicago Bears next week while the Seattle Seahawks will head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. If the Packers win, then our match-ups next weekend will be Packers at Falcons and Seahawks at Bears. (Gee. . .do you suppose the Falcons have a bit of a rooting interest in this one?)

5:00 PM Central Time, KSTC Ch. 45 - Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild
-The Wild have ripped off four consecutive wins and are coming off a very successful road trip to the East Coast. Now, they return home to see if they can sustain their momentum against Minnesota's "former" team. In a related story, Norm Green still sucks.

1:00 PM Central Time, Big Ten Network - #21 Minnesota Golden Gophers at #2 Ohio State Buckeyes
-If you're fortunate enough to have the Big Ten Network, you can watch the Gophers head to Columbus to take on one of the nation's elite teams.

VIDEO: Ted Williams' Kraft Commercial Set To Debut During Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl

When you tune into Sunday night's Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl between No. 13 Nevada and Boston College (9 p.m. EST, ESPN), you'll obviously see the Wolfpack's Colin Kaepernick and Vai Taua, and the Eagles' Mark Herzlich and Luke Kuechly. But the most famous person Sunday night won't be on the field. And won't even be seen. He'll be heard.

Ted Williams, the homeless man from Ohio with the golden voice who has captivated America this week, has not only already received a job offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers, but has also already recorded his first voiceover, for a new Kraft Macaroni & Cheese commercial, set to debut during the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl:

Kraft hired Williams after seeing his video from the Columbus Dispatch online.

Lynne Galia, a spokeswoman for Northfield-based Kraft, said the company saw his YouTube video this week and began talking with its advertising agency about working Williams into the campaign.

"We were moved by his story and his amazing voice," she said, adding that it was "perfectly suited" for the mac and cheese campaign. "We were in the middle of making our TV spots and in a unique position to help Ted use his great voice and also provide him employment."
