Oregon State was ready to go for it on fourth down on their first drive, but a false start penalty turned 4th-and-2 into 4th-and-7, and they decided to punt instead.
On the tenth play of the resulting drive, Andrew Luck hit Doug Baldwin on a 42-yard touchdown pass, giving the Cardinal a 14-0 lead. Luck is already 9-of-10 for 119 yards and two touchdowns, and the first quarter is just now coming to an end.
