Armed Forces Bowl Taps Army For 2010 Service Academy Pick

Stay connected with SB Nation

In a total curveball move, the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl has selected ... the Black Knights of Army, extending its streak of hosting bowl-eligible service academies to four years. (IMPORTANT NOTE: This is the game in Dallas, at Ford Stadium, and is totally different from the ominously-sponsored Military Bowl in DC.)

At 6-5, the Black Knights still have the Army-Navy game ahead of them to get to a respectable seven wins, but even if they lose, there's bragging rights aplenty for the independents and Air Force: All three service academies became bowl-eligible faster than Notre Dame.

The Black Knights' opponent will be a C-USA team; projections call for the invitation to be extended to the geographically advantageous SMU.

Bowl selections will continue to roll in throughout the week, and we'll be following them all right here. Stay tuned to this StoryStream right on through the selection show this Sunday night.
