SB Nation's Utah community, Block U, sifts through the rubble of a year of national title hopes in the wake of the Utes' devastating home loss to TCU and the demise of their lofty BCS ranking:
I'll just say that I've been to a lot of Ute games and never have I left the stadium so wrecked and disheartened than I did today. I really believed in them. I really thought this team was for real. But they weren't. Not even close.
This team is, as the Chinese like to say, a paper tiger. The national media was right and we were wrong. Utah had no business being compared to the likes of Boise State, TCU and yes, even Alabama. Today's game showed these programs are in an entirely different galaxy than the Utes right now.
For their troubles, Kyle Whittingham's boys have dropped ten points in the BCS standings, from No. 5 to No. 15. They're currently the lowest-ranked one-loss team excepting Nevada.
