After a highly inauspicious start to the 2010 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl, which saw their team fall behind by two touchdowns in less than five minutes, the Louisville Cardinals retake the ball with no small amount of visible trepidation. They quickly backpedal to the tune of 3rd-and-22, prompting Rece Davis to quip, "It's third ... and Orlando," and give the ball back, but manage to hold the Golden Eagles deep in SoMiss territory on the answering possession.
The first quarter ends uneventfully, and the second gets off to a rollicking start with a solid, Justin Burke- and Jeremy Wright-heavy drive culminating in an 11-yard pass from Burke to Cameron Graham for a touchdown. With 11:24 remaining in the first half, the Cardinals are on the board.
Not to be outdone, two minutes later the Golden Eagles execute a surprise pass from Quentin Pierce to Austin Davis, creating an agreeable symmetry with their first touchdown connection, for a 17-yard score. With 9:37 remaining in the first half, Southern Miss still holds that two-touchdown lead, 21-7.
